It will be a year on 5th April since we moved to Braintree. It has been stressful getting our house sorted and we didn’t know anyone apart from my husband’s sister family.

A couple of months ago I have started a journey with my nutritionist who is also a Crossfitter. He has encouraged me to go back to training. Because I have never done CrossFit, I have always thought it would be tough and horrible to start doing. I have then joined a gym. I was going to it because I had to so, I could combine diet and training to get the results I want. I used to go to it almost forcing myself because I felt it was so boring and it didn’t really motivate me. I would some days think, argh, I don’t really want to go. But had to drag myself to it for my body and mind reasons.

One day, I woke-up and thought I would look for a local CrossFit and, I was really happy to find out that CrossFit Braintree is only a 7min drive from our house. I have asked my husband if he wanted to come and watch a session with me one day to find out what CrossFit was all about. 🤭😊😮‍💨

The day we went to watch, Head Coach Gav was busy coaching but so many members approached us to say hello and to explain how it worked and how great fun it is. We went back home that day thinking what a lovely atmosphere. We then decided to take up on the challenge and do the 2 weeks free trial.

The coaches and members have made us fell so welcome. That fear went way straight away.

CrossFit isn’t horrible or difficult, it’s challenging but there’s nothing you can’t do. The coaches encourage you to push yourself, but not to the point it turns you off trying. And, I believe that more you do it, you will only get stronger and confident with time.

My husband and I have now happily joined CrossFit after doing the 2-week trial, we are going 3 times/week and we have since loved every session. It is a great place to challenge yourself and stop underestimating ourselves.

Last but not least, I would like to add that CrossFit community is amazing. Everyone is there smiling and supporting you at all times. I am always packed with energy after the sessions. It is an amazing feeling of job done. We have met so many great people and I am sure we will continue getting fitter on that happy and fun place. CrossFit Braintree rocks!

I started CrossFit on a two week trial several weeks ago with my wife. We were immediately taken by the friendliness of the other members and coaches, and we were made to feel very welcome, but more importantly as beginners, not pressured into pushing ourselves.

The sessions are really well organised and well explained by the coaches. For beginners, there are terms and techniques that you’ll perhaps never seen or heard before, but it’s quickly picked up.

The sessions are demanding, but can be tailored to your ability and there is no judgement from anyone – only support!

We’ve signed up and are now all in! We’re still learning loads of things but we’re seeing a change in our bodies and our ability to follow the programme/sessions.

Lots of couples do CrossFit and it’s a great way to work out together. I would highly recommend anyone to give it a go.

I decided to try out crossfit after my other half got me a month free trial. I had always thought that crossfit would be way too difficult for me after hearing some of the moves you have to do but I gave it a go anyway. I went to 3 classes a week for the month and actually surprised myself with the weights I could lift. I came away feeling like I had really accomplished something, I did ache quite a bit after but I like that as it makes me feel like I have worked hard. The moves that you have to do can easily be tailored to suit you and the weight can easily be adjusted. There is a good mix of cardio and weight training and it is easily manageable. It was daunting going myself for the first time but the members are friendly and I was made to feel at ease.

I have now become a member and look forward to going to the classes every time.
